The Volunteer Service Base of EYE & ENT Hospital Of Fudan University is set up with the aims to "care for the disadvantaged in society and undertake social welfares". It follows the volunteerism of "dedication, fraternity, mutual assistance, and progress", and advocates the concept of "Happy Volunteering & Helping Growth". It adheres to the path of building independent brands, cultivating advantageous projects, and regulating the behaviors and management of volunteer teams.
By distinguishing the characteristics of EENT diseases, the Hospital has established a volunteer service base as a volunteering platform, and set up 21 volunteer forces whose members are highly specialized and professional. The volunteers regularly carry out health science popularizations. And for special groups, they provide peer-to-peer and face-to-face healthcare science popularization and humanistic care services. This new platform has shown the two highlighted features: specialist care and voluntary services.
Currently, the main Charity projects carried out include:
1. "The Light of Starlight" Eye Vision Charity Project (XingXingZhiGuang)
The project was established in 2018. It is aimed to help children and adolescents who suffer from eye disease with congenital hereditary Marfan syndromes and whose families cannot afford for treatment. By funding them a certain amount of money for surgical expenses, the project helps young patients regain their vision so that they are as able as other healthy children and adolescents to receive education and enjoy life.
2. The “ErCongMuMing JianKangTongxing Children Eye & Ear Caring" Charity project
The project was launched in June 2021. It aims to help children and adolescents who are with congenital severe deafness, congenital external or middle ear malformations, and congenital cataracts and whose families cannot afford treatment costs. It helps them with a certain amount of money for surgical treatment. In addition, it also provides them with healthcare education and social support to promote their healthy growth.
3. "Bright Road 2.0" Glaucoma Charity Project
The project was established in November 2021. It aims to help disadvantaged groups whose families are burdened by the cost of glaucoma treatment. It funds them with a certain amount of money for surgery, and also provides them with healthcare education and social support to promote their recovery.
